5 Reasons Why Girlfriends and Mum like Wii

The NDP Group just released April's game console sales number. Again, Nintendo beat their closest competition "Sony" by a mile. In April, Nintendo Wii sales total is 360,000 units while Sony sold 82,000 PS3 in the same month.

The main reason behind Nintendo's Wii success is because it hits a niche market, our wives and girlfriends ... Here are 5 reasons why they like it:

1) They think that playing Wii can help them keep fit. Wii as a gym membership replacement.
2) It is white in color... same goes to iPod, MacBook.
3) The games are easy enough that they can play with their 5 years old and actually enjoy playing.
4) The remote only has two buttons. If they know how to use a TV remote, they would know how to use a Wii remote.
5) They can figure out how to play in less than 10 seconds.

I've had my Wii since the week before Christmas and my only complaint is the lack of good games beyond Wii Sports, Wii Play, and Zelda. There are definitely a few that I am looking forward to.

My wife has played video games occasionally for pretty much entire relationship, so the Wii didn't draw her in, but my parents were another story.

It doesn't even feel like they are competing with Microsoft or Sony because the product is so different from both.

Anyway, the popularity of the Wii will breed better games for the console, and that has me excited. I'm had every Nintendo console ever made, but the game selection has recently been lacking.

Kyle, I completely agree ... we don't have much choice with the game selections.

I got Wii Sports and Wii Play and I just bought Zelda through ebay (I heard it is the best game in Wii) .. hopefully it won't disappoint me :P

I want to get another party type game but I still haven't make up my mind with Wario or Mario Party.
