I have noticed many people have problems (myself included) with Blogger's Custom Domain when they tried to move from blogspot.com to their own domain. Usually, it happened to the domain where www.mathpoints.com points to the correct site but mathpoints.com (without the www) cannot be found. I would like to share my experience on how I get it to work.
Special thanks to MG from parislemon.com, GoDaddy Support and Google Blogger Help Group.
I followed the instructions on Blogger's Help:
1. Log in to your account at www.godaddy.com.
2. Open the Domains tab and select My Domain Names. You'll be directed to the Manage Domains page.
3. Click the domain that you'd like to use with your blog.
4. Click the Total DNS Control And MX Records in the box entitled Total DNS Control.
5. Click Add New CNAME Record. If you've already created a CNAME record for your blog's address, click Edit next to the existing CNAME record.
6. For the Name, enter only the subdomain of the address you want to use for your blog. For example, if you picked www.mydomain.com as your address, enter www here.
7. Enter ghs.google.com as the Host Name.
8. Click Continue, and then click Add. If you're editing an existing CNAME record, click Continue and Update.
Then I followed the email instructions from GoDaddy's Support:
9. Park your domain and don't use any other free hosting:10. Set Up Forwarding:
- From within your GoDaddy account, select 'Manage Domains' from the 'Domain Names' menu.
- Check the box next to the domain(s) you wish to modify.
- Click the 'Set Name Servers' button above the list of domains.
- Select the 'Default Parked Name Servers' option.
- Check the box next to the domain(s) you wish to modify.
- Click the 'Forward Domains' button above your list of domains.
- Enter the full URL that you would like your domain to forward to. (http://www.mydomain.com)

I tried your tips for making your domain name work with blogger, but was wondering if you know how long it takes for the changes to take effect? I'm still getting a 404 error when I tried your steps.
Blogger and GoDaddy said that it may take up to 48 hours, but mine didn't take that long (probably less than a day).
Did you lose your pagerank or anything as a result of the switch?
I switched to custom domain when I first started this blog, so I didn't lose out anything (it has 0 PR because it is new anyway).
But yes, the switch will make you lose out some PR & backlinks because it is another domain.
yes, your pagerank will drop to ZERO
thats really bad but theres nothing to do...
thanks, fuser

Andy,
Thanks for the tip, it works great!
How did you fix your blogger forward though?? you can only forward www.mysite.blogspot.com while mysite.blogspot.com still shows your blog....Any ideas on how to fix this??
JW
Thanks again for the help.
@John - Do you mean you would like to forward your old blogspot blog to the new domain? With and without "www." ?
@ Nike - You're welcome. Glad it helps.
Hey Andy - Yes that is exactly what i mean. Currently blogger only forwards the www.mysite.blogspot.com NOT the mysite.blogspot.com.
How do you get them to forward both forms of your blogspot blog?
Thanks
-JW
@John- I am not sure how to do it either.
Check out this thread in Blogger Help Group.
It sounds like it is a known issue but Blogger hasn't fixed it yet.
Well thats too bad... At least I'm not the only one that notices the problem with it. Hey thanks for your help buddy.
In my case it's forwarding the mysite.blogspot.com NOT www.mysite.blogspot.com
chatterness - forwarding the domain without the triple "w" should work out just fine.
Hi Andy,
Indeed, the forwarding without the triple "w" works perfectly but if someone adds them to the url or uses a link that has them it will not forward to my custom domain.
It's not a major problem but I think Blogger should work on fixing it.
By the way, the blog I'm referring to is http://www.wannatech.com which used to be http://wannatech.blogspot.com and also http://www.wannatech.blogspot.com
That last one is the one that's not forwarded.
Chatteress, I hear ya ... this has been a problem for many bloggers and we should monitor this closely under the Google Blogger Help Group
Thanks for the great post.. But I discover something easier. When I use domain from namecheap.com.
What I do is, I just change both of the www and @ dns into ghs.google.com. with CNAME(alias) type, then at the subdomain part, i redirect the url blog.ensmarketing.com. At the blogger setting page, I simply tick the box that redirect the ensmarketing.com to www.ensmarketing.com. DONE!Hope this will work for you all too.
Now you can check out my blog at:
http://www.ensmarketing.com
http://ensmarketing.com and also
http://blog.ensmarketing.com and lastly
http://autopilotdotcom.blogspot.com
This doesn't seem to work with Yahoo domains. Yahoo will not let me forward katesimon.com to www.katesimon.com. That's just not an option and when I try to do it, it tells me it's invalid. Is there a way to get around this?
